BURKO, Louis
Choirmaster Emeritus of the Shaare Zion Congregation for forty-three years. With dignity, at the age of eighty-three, on Monday February 24, 2014. Beloved husband and soul-mate of Alegria Pinto. Devoted and beloved father and father-in-law of Dr. Benjamin Burko and Donna Litvack, and Judy Burko-Brown. Adored "Grandpa Lou" of Zane, and Milo Burko; Eli, Adam, and Jason Zafrani (Ft. Lauderdale). Respected step-father of Jacob Essayag, and Evelyn Zafrani (Simon). Devoted brother and brother-in-law of Elinor and the late Howard Goldsmith, Sam and Deedee Burko, the late Mary and the late Isaac Rocklin. Special uncle of Cheryl Goldsmith, the late Paul Goldsmith, Aura Burko and David Kaplan, Ben and Melanie Burko, Brian Rocklin and Romy Schnaiberg. Dear Mechutan of Bluma and Michael Litvack. Lou was admired by his extended family and his colleagues. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his caregiver Mathew Mitchell for his compassionate care. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Wednesday, February 26 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Shaare Zion Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield.
