ORNSTEIN, Sylvia (nee Steinberg)
1916 - 2014
Peacefully in Montreal, on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 with her daughters by her side. Devoted wife of the late Joseph Ornstein. Caring, generous and beloved mother of Jill (Morris Moscovitch), and Ellen (Allan Titus). Proud grandmother of Elana (Jessie), David (Leora), Alyssa (Tom), and David (Mly); and Great-Granny of Ezra, Eitan, and Ma'ayan. Cherished sister of Julie (Harry Schwartz), the late Irving (Toby) and the late Lil; and sister-in-law of the late Ruby (Sam Smolkin), and the late Leonard (Betty). Very special aunt and great-aunt, particularly to her Montreal nieces and their families, who were always there for her. She touched many people's lives as a dear friend and neighbour, and also as a dedicated volunteer for over forty years at Maimonides. She was an inspiration to us all with her positive energy and outlook on life and her constant optimism. She will be greatly missed by her extended family and friends. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Friday, April 25 at 11:00 a.m. Burial at the Chevra Kadisha B'Nai Jacob Congregation Cemetery, rue Lajeunesse, Montreal. Shiva in Montreal at Julie and Harry's home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; continuing in Toronto, at Jill and Morris' home on Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon and evening.
