Obituary HEITNER, Howard After a valiant battle, Howard succumbed to kidney cancer on Sunday evening, February 17, 2019, at the age of seventy-four. Howard will be greatly missed by his wife of over fifty years, Elaine Elkin, his children, Michael (Shoshana) and Tamara, grandchildren, Emma and Jacob, brother Cyril (Norma), brother-in-law Richard Elkin (Esther), "adopted" brother Charles Eklove (Sheila), and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his step-brother Ronald (Elyse) Reinblatt. Sincere gratitude to Nora, Malcolm, Constance and the staff at Mount Sinai Hospital for their kind and caring support. Howard spent a productive career as Director-Operations of the McGill University Computing Centre. His passions included being a volunteer ski patroller at Owl's Head Ski Hill for over thirty years. He was a first aid and AED instructor for the Canadian Ski Patrol as well as for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Howard served on the religious committee of the Shaare Zion Congregation where he blew shofar at the auxiliary service on the High Holidays for many years. After retiring to Potton, in the Eastern Townships, Howard took an interest in helping the community attain internet and cellular service. He particularly enjoyed his weekly hiking and snowshoeing outings with the "Scat Cats" on the Ruiter Valley Land Trust trails. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Thursday, February 21 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Baron de Hirsch Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva to be announced.
