Obituary |
Peacefully, on Friday, August 6, 2021. Devoted wife of the late Bobby. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Clifford and Marilyn, Steven and Barbara, Sam and Louise. Loving Bubby of Lauren and Robbie, Erin and David, Sean and Tracey, Jayme and Dan, Jeremy and Roxanne, Zachary and Megan, Michelle and Brandon, and Gregory. Daughter of the late Sam and the late Sonia Potash. Proud great Bubby of David, Callie, Henry, Carter, Blake, Rylee and Story. Dear sister and sister of law of Gertrude (the late Bob), the late Betty, and the late Milton, David and the late Stella. Cherished aunt of Deirdre, Jonathan, Robert, Lisa, Andrew, and Marty. Ann -- in the words of her surviving sister Gertrude, the matriarch -- was born in Campbell's Bay, Quebec where their father, Sam owned a department store. Even after moving to the big city, Montreal, Ann retained her small-town work ethic, raising her three sons and their friends as her own. Once her children got older, Ann embarked on a career as a real-estate agent, something uncommon 40 years ago for a woman. Yet, in her typical Ann style, her success, becoming the marquee agent for Hampstead and Cote St. Luc, paved the way for female real-estate agents in Montreal. Even after retirement, Ann continued to work, well into her eighties, volunteering at the Jewish General Hospital's clothing boutique. Her hard work ethic applied equally to her appearance, retaining her beauty and elegant style to the very end, never being seen in sweatpants let alone with her hair unkempt. The family would like to extend special thanks to Doctors Stephanie Wong, and Victor Cohen, and to her caregivers and nurses Sarah, Emmanuelle, Jill, and Cora. Special thanks to Dr. Jeff Danson and his staff, Elena and Maureen. Ann will be dearly missed, though her spirit will live on through her family and friends. A private service will take place. Shiva strictly private.
