BATIST, Phillip Avrum Ben Eliezer Peacefully in his sleep, on Monday, March 9, 2020, in his ninety-fourth year. Phillip was happily married to Gertrude Katz for seventy-two years and together they envisioned the future. Beloved father and father-in-law of Lynda and George Friedman, Gerald and Lynn Batist, Rosanne and Steven Teplitsky, Bruce and Susan Batist. Cherished grandfather of Josh Teplitsky, Gabriel Friedman, Aliza Teplitsky, Solomon Friedman and Sarah Clifford-Rashotte, Rachel and Michael Porcelain, Yonina Friedman, Jacob Batist and Jill Taras, Aviva Friedman, Kira Batist and Andrew Wigod, Naomi Toby Teplitsky and Nicky Kolios, Noah Batist and Abby Andrew, Zachary Batist, and Jonah Batist, Judah Batist, and Aiden Batist. Proud great-grandfather of River Rashotte-Friedman; Cayleb and Charley Wigod; Kobe, Noa and Liam Porcelain, and Micah Batist. Dear brother and brother-in-law of the late Harriet, Manny and the late Phyllis Strumpf and the late Lionel Batist. Phil touched many people and in so doing left his mark on them and in the world. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon St. W., on Thursday, March 12 at 12:00 p.m. Burial at King George Association Cemetery, de la Savane.
