SOURKES, Shena (nee Rosenblatt) On Thursday, December 29, 2016 in her ninety-seventh year. Beloved wife of the late Ted (Theodore) Sourkes. Mother of Barbara, Myra (Richard Lewin) and the late Doreen. Grandmother of Eric, David and Talia Jade. Daughter of the late Ginda Kalujna Rosenblatt and the late Abram Rosenblatt. Shena was born in Bricani, Bessarabia and was fortunate to immigrate to Canada with her parents and grandmother in 1934 at the age of 14. She graduated in Medicine from the University of Toronto in 1943, trained in anesthesia at McGill University and practiced in Montreal until the age of 71. Shena and Ted were a vibrant couple through 72 years of marriage. Shena will be remembered as a gifted and artistic person who gave her love, wisdom and support to her family and friends throughout her life. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon St. W., on Monday, January 2 at 12:45 p.m. Burial at Montreal Workers' Circle Cemetery, de la Savane.
