HOLLANDER, Nicolas (Nick) Passed away at the age of 93 in Montreal after an extended period of illness. His son Stanley and cousin Myriam (Antwerp) mourn his passing, as do supportive family friends Maria Salome and Israel Dayan. Nicolas Hollander died on the Sabbath March 2 and was buried on Sunday, March 3. In his eulogy, Rabbi Morris Werner called him an insightful man and praised him for his support of Jewish causes. He also cited successful actions by his family to save Jews in war-time Europe. Nicolas Hollander is predeceased by his wife Ira Ida Lewin, as well as brothers Gabriel (London), Stanislas (Vienna) and Benjamin (New York). Nick Hollander was a gregarious man and will be sadly missed and dearly remembered by very many. They include Lisa Morin and her staff. His family offers thanks to the kind and dedicated nurses, orderlies and doctors at Maimonides Geriatric Centre, 6-south and at the Jewish General Hospital, 7-west; and to Rabbi Morris Werner for an eloquent eulogy from the heart.
