Bea Brock (nee Rosen) September 26, 1907 - September 12, 2013 Our much loved mother and grandmother Bea Brock was born in Russia in 1907 and emigrated to Canada at an early age. She was predeceased by her husband and best friend Howard to whom she was married for 65 years, her son Fred, her son-in-law Mervyn Brettschneider and 6 siblings. Bea is survived by her daughter Carol, grandchildren Mindy (Danny) Joffe, Fred (Michele) and Richard (Donna) Brettschneider, 7 great grandchildren, and her brother Albert Rosen of Winnipeg. Bea was a tireless and active woman with endless amounts of energy: She danced, swam, cooked, gardened and sewed well into her nineties. She was a talented musician who played the violin until her 100th birthday. She was kind, warm and loving-she will be sorely missed. Bea moved to Calgary when she was 99. She was lucky to have 2 wonderful caregivers, Racquel and Teresa, to help keep her company during that time. A special Thank you to them, as well as the staff at the Beverley South for their kindness and compassion. Funeral services will take place graveside in Montreal, Que on Sunday September 15th at Baron de Hirsch Cemetery (Shomrim Laboker) 5015 rue de la Savane at 1:00 pm. Services will be held on September 17th at the Beth Tzedec synagogue at 6:00 pm. For those who wish, donations in Bea's memory can be made to the Calgary Jewish Academy at (403) 253-3992. |
