NACHSHEN, Israel "Issie" The Nachshen Family is sad to make known that the Patriarch of Our family, Israel "Issie" Nachshen passed away on 24 Cheshvan 5771. Israel Nachshen was born in Kharkov, on Rosh Chodesh Nissan 5682 (April 9, 1921) to Motel and Eva (nee Sherman) Nachshen. He immigrated to Canada with his parents in 1925. He was the husband of the late Florence Nachshen (nee Koch) and the brother of the late Helen Zoffer (nee Nachshen). The father of Shiffy Crane (nee Nachshen) and the late Dr. Daniel Nachshen. Father-in-law to Dr. Judith Stamberg and Avi Crane. Grandfather of Mike Nachshen (Arizona), Saul Nachshen (New York), Yair Crane (California) and Gahl Crane (California) and great grandfather to Maya Leah Crane. He is remembered by his sisters-in-law and many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends in Montreal, Israel and around the world. Issie was a life time supporter of Israel and was Past President of Friends of Pioneering Israel and also a Past President of the Jewish Public Library. In 1994, at the age of 73, Issie was awarded a Master in Judaic Studies by Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. He worked tirelessly to raise funds for hospitals and schools in Israel and was a proud member of many Jewish organizations. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Thursday, November 4 at 12 noon. Burial at the Farband Labour Zionist Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at Ruby Foo's Hotel through Thursday evening, November 4.
