ALKALLAY, Tova (nee Taube Oiri Besprovanni) Peacefully, with dignity, on Saturday, October 25, 2014, in her ninety-fifth year. Beloved wife of the late Isaac Alkallay (2008) and the late Vaino Perala (1947). Devoted and cherished mother of Rachel, the late Elie (1964), and the late Ruthi Helena (1950). Beloved daughter of the late Bertha Akselrod Oiri and granddaughter of the late Hasche Virahofsky Akselrod Stromer. Sister-in-law of Rina Romano, and aunt of Etty and Joe Fachler, and the late Barry Romano. Tova was the last surviving Jew of Viipuri, Finland, who will be sadly missed by her family and friends in Finland, Israel and the USA, and by all of those whose lives she touched. The family would like to thank her devoted caregiver, Gloria Grant. Special thanks to Dr. Jaroslav Prchal and Dr. Raymond Sorge, as well as the nurses and staff of 5 Main and Oncology Day Centre at St. Mary's Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion over the past five years. Funeral service took place from Paperman & Sons, on Monday, October 27. Shiva at 6525 Wilderton Ave. #1003, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, and after 10 a.m. on Sunday.
