| Obituary | Peacefully in the comfort of her home of more than twelve years, Terraces of Baycrest (Toronto), on Tuesday August 15, 2023 at the age of one hundred. “Lizica” was the beloved wife of the late “Lica” (Sol) Calman. She will be sorely missed by her children, Ruth and Alfred Calman, and their spouses, Murray Lightman and Rissa Simon, whom she welcomed so warmly into the family many years ago. Cherished “Granma” of Deborah Lightman and Robertson Gibb. Proud great-grandmother of Rebecca and Miles, who brought her so much joy in her final years. "Tante Lizica" will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, and their children, many of whom she so happily entertained in her home. Sadly predeceased by her sisters, Tili, Clara, and Uca, and by her brother, Avram. Much gratitude to her two caregivers, Lorie and Jocelyn, who cared for her so well especially in the challenging final days of her life.
Graveside service in Montreal on Thursday, August 17 at 1:00 p.m., at the Beth Yehuda Section, Baron de Hirsch Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at the Homewood Suites by Hilton (6939 Decarie Blvd.) Thursday following burial until 4:00 p.m., and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. |
