BROWN, Sophie (nee Portner) Peacefully, on Friday, May 14, 2010, in her ninety-seventh year. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Mervin and Barbara. Dear sister of Nettie Bernofsky. Predeceased by her husbands, Abraham Brown and Bill Switzer; brothers, Louis and Saul (Slee); sisters, Annie, Edith, Goldie and Laya; and by her special friend, Maxwell Cohen. Heartfelt thanks to her nieces, Anne and Sari Levitsky. Many thanks to Dr. Benjamin Schiff, Dr. Harold Zackon, and her many caregivers. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Sunday, May 16 at 1 p.m. Burial at the Field of Remembrance (Veterans') Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at Manoir Montefiore, 5885 Cavendish Blvd., #407, on Sunday 7 to 9 p.m., Monday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday 1 to 3 p.m. Due to the Festival of Shavuot, shiva ends Tuesday, May 18. |
