Obituary AJZENBERG, Berek (Berl) Peacefully, on Friday, July 29, 2016 (23 Tammuz 5776). Beloved husband and best friend for sixty-one years of the late Frieda Flam. Devoted and loving father and father-in-law of Molly Eisenberg and Louis Cote, Jack Ajzenberg and Sharon Gladstone. Adored and cherished Zaidy Berl of Michael and Heather Konyves; Henry Ajzenberg and Nel Vandermeer, Emily Sadowski and Martin Stock, Joanna and Tobias Shepherd, Daniel Sadowski and Kylie Shatz; Justine Cote and Alexandra Ferret, Louis-Francois Cote and Michel Rousseau. Treasured great-grandfather of Jacobi and Isabelle Konyves; and Rosie Shepherd. Dearest uncle of Sylvia and David Levinson, Susan Stadner, Eddy and Roz Sherman and their families. 'Michutin' to Sid Gladstone, Michael and Arlene Gladstone. Predeceased by his cousins Manya and Fishel Stadworner, and by his entire family devoured in the maw of the European genocide of the Jews. Berl healed the world by his compassion, kindness, generosity of spirit, and profound belief in the better part of each human being. His positive outlook and equanimity in the face of all storms embraced all those who had the privilege of knowing him. By deeds and words he demonstrated exemplary strength, acute insight and courageous leadership in several facets of his communal endeavours. His unwavering faith in the mysterium tremendum and in divine guidance, his love of Israel and Am Yisroael served as a ballast throughout a meritoriously heroic life and will perpetually inspire his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Heartfelt thanks to Drs. Joseph Raffoul, Arthur Rosenberg, and Arnold Zylbergold for their medical care and compassion, and to his caregivers Carolyn, Leonora, Jerusalem, Betty, Angie, Offie; and to Aldrin, Dorothy, Effie, Garth, Jennifer, May, Purita, of 6 North Maimonides Geriatric Center and to the excellent nursing staff of the 6th and 8th floors at the Jewish General Hospital.
