Obituary SAND, Otto It is with great sadness, that the family of Otto Sand announces his passing on Sunday, April 16, 2017. Beloved husband of Susan Lazare for forty-nine years. Devoted father and father-in-law of Nina and Keith, Carrie and Angus. Proud grandfather of Gabriel, and Michaela; Noa, Talia, and Maya. Brother and brother-in-law of the late Eugene (Jeno) and the late Lily, the late Herman, the late Freda, and the late Irene Sandorfy. Dear brother-in-law of Luca and the late Daniel Lazare, Jack and Harriet Lazare. As a Holocaust survivor, his understanding of the meaning of family was the essence of his life. A formidable character, he was most at home on the mountain, which reminded him of the Tatra Mountains of his youth in Czechoslovakia. Otto will be fondly remembered by all those with whom he shared a run, on the mountain or at the 'Y', his many friends, and extended family. He will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives he touched. The family would like to thank the staff of Mount Sinai Hospital and CLSC Rene-Cassin for their care and compassion. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Wednesday, April 19 at 1:45 p.m. Burial at the Hebrew Sick Benefit Association Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at his home. Contributions in his memory may be made to the "Otto Sand Memorial Fund" c/o YM– YWHA, (514) 737-6551.
