Obituary STERLIN, Martin. R. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martin Sterlin on Friday, December 12, 2014. After a brief illness, Martin left us peacefully shortly after his 89th birthday with family by his side. The sole surviving child of the late Leon Sterlin and the late Helen Trapido. Martin was predeceased by Aaron, Lieutenant Mitchell; killed in battle during World War II in Ortona, Italy, Anne and Rudy Corber. Loving father and father-in-law he, with the late Moora Levy, leave behind four children and their spouses; Michael and Ruth Sterlin, Sharona and Jonathan Brookman, Dan Sterlin and Reesa Rosenfeld, Leora Sterlin and David Altman. A truly fortunate man during his lifetime, he will be greatly missed by his 12 grandchildren and their partners: Esther Sterlin and Daveed Deutsch, Elizabeth Sterlin, Ben Sterlin, Dana Brookman and Leigh Silverstein, Aviva Brookman and Lachlan Barlow, Miriam Brookman and Evan Mendel, Joshua Sterlin, Ariel Sterlin, Jamie Sterlin, Sarah Sterlin-Altman, Daniel Sterlin-Altman and Alexander Sterlin-Altman. Before his passing Martin was lucky enough to meet his first great grandchild; Timothy Brooks Silverstein. The family would like to thank the many caregivers who have watched over Martin so caringly during these last few difficult weeks. Your presence truly helped to ease his suffering. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W. on Monday, December 15, at 2:00 p.m. Burial at the Hebrew Sick Benefit Association Cemetery, de la Savane. A celebration of his life will be held following the funeral.
