ANGELL, Sylvia (nee Endler) With great sadness we announce the death of Sylvia Angell on November 30, 2011, following a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of the late Harold Angell, proud mother of David (Kate) and doting grandmother of Alexandra and Jonathan. She will also be deeply missed by Michèle Gorry, Marie-Claude Gatineau and by many other long-time friends. Sylvia was predeceased by her brother Norman Endler (Beatty). Sylvia was born in Montreal, the daughter of the late Eli and the late Pearl Endler, and lived there most of her life. A social worker by profession and a writer by vocation, she had a penetrating mind, a deep interest in people, a passion for books, a mischievous sense of humour and turn of phrase and, above all, an exceptional gift for friendship. Thank you to CLSC and NOVA Montreal, especially to Carole Beluse and her colleagues for outstanding at-home palliative care, and to her family doctor Fanny Hersson-Edery. Graveside service on Sunday, December 4 at 12:45 pm, at the Hebrew Sick Benefit Association Cemetery (section B-34), 5015 de la Savane. Shiva at her home from 2 to 4 pm. Donations in her memory may be made to the "Harry and Sylvia Angell Memorial Fund" c/o the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, www.cfhu.org , or to NOVA Montreal, 514-866-6801. Services entrusted to Paperman & Sons. |
