MAMANE, Abraham Peacefully, on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, a day after his eighty-sixth birthday. Beloved husband of Sara Cohen. Devoted father and father-in-law of Nancy and Beryl. Dear brother of Jacques, Marc, and Gisèle Altit. He will be sadly mourned by his siblings in Israel, his nieces, nephews, family and friends. Abraham was a quiet hero. We build on the foundations of those like him. He battled every challenge, assumed every duty with uncomplaining grace and optimism. His ready smile, quiet patience and sincere compassion comforted all whom he touched. He fought for his country, he eased the way for his family at every turn, and he triumphed over the ravages of disease that felled so many so much earlier. His final battle was fought with rare dignity and determination, as he had all those that had come before. He will be sorely missed. His like is rarely seen today. Graveside service on Friday, December 4 at 11:00 a.m., at the Shomrim Laboker Congregation Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at his home. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Dialysis Unit c/o the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, (514) 340-8251. Arrangements entrusted to Paperman & Sons. |
