ADELSOHN, Judel It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Judel Adelsohn, at the age of ninety-one, on Monday evening, April 18, 2011, his favorite date: the first night of Passover. Judel Adelsohn was born in Suwalki, Poland, on February 2, 1920. A Holocaust survivor, a WWII Captain in the Russian Army, with final Victory in Berlin. After the war, he met his beloved wife, Bella, in a displaced persons camp in Austria 1946. He together with his wife and two children immigrated to Canada August 1951. He worked hard at establishing a successful business providing a better life for his family. Judel is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-four years, Bella Rothman. He was a devoted father and father-in-law to David and Molly Adelsohn, Esther Adelsohn, Victor and Liane Adelsohn, and Joey Adelsohn. He was a cherished Zaida to Joshua Lemish, Leonard and Carolyn Lemish, Ilana Lemish and fiance Ari Itman, Nicole Adelsohn, Sean and Sara Adelsohn, and Leah Adelsohn. Predeceased by his parents, David and Gitel Adelsohn who perished in Sobibor, and his brothers, Avraham, Mordechai who died serving in the Polish infantry 1939 and Lazar Adelsohn who passed away in Israel. He was a dear brother-in-law of Hymie and Sally Rothman, and the late, Max and Gitel Rothman, Joe Rothman, Moses and Zelda Scherer, Chuma who passed away in the former Soviet Union. He will be sadly mourned by his many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his caregiver, Concepcion (Ciony) Cong-o. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Sunday, April 24 at 1 p.m. Burial at the Nusach Hoari Congregation Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at his home. Due to the festival of Passover, Shiva begins Tuesday evening, April 26.
