AZOULAY, Leon It is with sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear father and father-in-law, Leon Azoulay on Monday, May 25, 2020. A great man, with a kind and generous heart, has left us as he lived his life, with modesty and discretion. Cherished father of Johnny and Cheryl, Beatrice, Eric, Nadine and David Harboun. Adored 'Papi' of Sean and Jonah, Zachary, Sarah (fiance Jeremy Maron), Olivia and Alexandra Harboun. Predeceased by his parents, Salomon and Clara Azoulay, his sisters, Rachel, Solange and Marcelle, and his brother, Joseph, all of Paris, France. A young boy in Casablanca during WWII, he befriended the American soldiers there, and they counted on him to show them the best spots in town. At seventeen years of age, he enlisted in the Israeli Army and joined the Palmach "storm troops" fighting in the War of Independence in 1948. He loved to regale us all with his stories of war, travel and La Vita Bella of Casablanca and Paris. Through him we learned all about history and the world, and most importantly the value of family. He cherished most the times he spent surrounded by his children and grandchildren, and he will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Donations in his memory may be made to the Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors, (514) 734-1825. Arrangements entrusted to Paperman & Sons. |
