Obituary WASSERMAN, Peppy (nee Salpeter) Peacefully, in her one hundred and fifth year, at St. Mary's Hospital, on Sunday, October 16, 2011. Devoted widow of the late Hyman Wasserman for sixty-four years. Much loved by her daughter, Norma and son-in-law, Martin Levine. Special aunt to Fran Avni, and great-nieces, Shira Avni and Ronit Avni. Step-grandmother of Barbara Levine and Jonathan Levine, and Eve Krakow; and great-grandmother of Max and Samantha Levine. She will be missed by the children and grandchildren of her precious sisters and brothers-in-law who predeceased her, Eva and Harry Liberman, Rebecca and Robert Shilling and Rudolph Merling, Sophie Burt, Clara and Joe Silcoff; and sister-in-law of the late Phillip Wasserman, and the late Jack and the late Rachel Wasserman. The family would like to express its gratitude to, and deep appreciation of her loving and devoted companion and caregiver, Flordeliza Tiangco, who came into her life in her second century, and enriched her last five years. There were many others who helped keep her in her own home until the last six months, especially Dr. Stuart Glaser, to whom we are most grateful; and the nurses and homecare staff of CLSC Cote-des-Neiges. Funeral Service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Tuesday, October 18 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Hungarian Hebrew Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at her daughter's home. Due to the festival of Succoth, shiva commences Saturday evening October 22; however, Norma will be receiving visitors as of Tuesday. Donations in Peppy's memory may be made to Na'amat Canada, (514) 484-0252, or to the Jewish National Fund, (514) 934-0313, her favourite charities.
