Obituary RAVINSKY, Jack August 28, 1917 - November 11, 2010 With deep sadness we announce the death of Jack Ravinsky at the age of ninety-three. He leaves behind to mourn him his daughters Esther (Eli), Frances (Robert) & Mindy (Regolo), his brother Abe, sister-in-law Gina, grandchildren Charles, Rachael & Sarah, stepchildren Mark & Susan (Bob), & friend Esther Rabinovitch & family. Jack was pre-deceased by his parents, Wolf & Sarah, siblings Rose, Myer, & Eli, 1st wife Clara Brenner & 2nd wife Edith Gerson. Jack's early life was marked with hardships. He left school early and bore the weight of supporting his family. His youngest brother Abe has been forever grateful for Jack's support during his childhood. Jack continued to love Abe always. Jack owned Central Plumbing & Heating. After his retirement he attended to his many passions: sculpting, singing in choirs, teaching English to Russian friends, & attending the Golden Age Writing Club. Along with the many stories and essays he wrote, Jack kept up an active correspondence with his granddaughter Sarah. But it was in his garden that Jack experienced bliss. He never lost his awe for all growing things, dedicated himself to nurturing his young plants, and shared his abundant garden produce with friends & neighbours, Even as he wished for death in the last difficult months of life, his enthusiasm for one more experience endured. In the words of his friend Esther, "He was always game". We wish to thank our aunt Gina for her warm-hearted attention to Jack during these last hard years. We would also like to express our gratitude to the staff at the SICU (JGH) for their respectful and compassionate care. Special thanks to Drs. Basik, Spicer, McMillan, Warshawsky & Beaudoin & Nurses Corrine, Olga, Donna, Jenny, Janelle & Jaqueline.Blessing on you all. The world will never be the same without our father. We will miss him always. Those who wish to honour Jack's memory may do so by making a donation to the Montreal Association for the Blind, Macular Degeneration Day program, 514-488-0043. Graveside service is at the Hebrew Sick Benefit Assoc. Cemetery (B-34) de la Savane on Sunday November 14 at 3 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Paperman & Sons.
