February 9, 1929 - November 23, 2012 Passed away in Montreal November 23rd at the age of 83, Susan Vadnay (nee Adler) arrived in Canada in 1957 where she worked as a librarian at Sir George Williams University and later at the Jewish Public Library until she retired. She went back to university and obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Religion in 1976. She published "A Selected Bibliography of Research on Canadian Jewry, 1900 - 1980" in 1991. She travelled extensively and had friends worldwide. She was a feisty woman who fought for everything that she thought was important to her and her family's well-being. She was the principal caregiver for her parents and husband throughout their illnesses over extended periods of time. Susan loved to play the piano and was a lifelong lover of music and one of her favorite songs was "As Time Goes By". She would love to go out dancing on a Saturday night, even into her 70's. She remained active in her golden years taking courses at the Cummings Centre and participated in the Holocaust Survivor Group meetings that she attended weekly and in tributes to Raul Wallenberg, who saved her and her parents lives twice during the war. She appeared in the video series, "Surviving the Shoah" and various other documentaries. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 27th at Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon west, Montreal, Qc.. |
