RACHEL TROKENBERG (nee BIEGUN) Passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, in her ninetieth year of Pneumonia at the Jewish General Hospital. Rachel Trokenberg was born in Poland, the youngest of 5 children, whose father died in the First World War when she was only five. She showed an early aptitude for languages and studied linguistics. She was fluent in eight languages. Before World War II her linguistic ability and business acumen secured her an important position in the import/export industry. In Canada, Rachel Trokenberg was involved in a number of retail and real estate ventures. She was a very bright, energetic and dynamic person who also devoted much of her time and energies in caring for her family and friends. She was the main caregiver of Samuel Trokenberg, her husband for sixty-two years, who had suffered a stroke eleven years prior to his death. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law; Lily and Peter Hechtman, Mary Trokenberg and Peter Vatcher, her grandsons and their spouses Jeremy Hechtman and Jennifer Poupart, Ken Hechtman and Ligi Alakkattussery, and Charlie Vatcher, and great-grandsons Jacob Turner-Hechtman and James Tiberius Hechtman. The family wishes to thank her wonderful devoted care-givers, Stella Paragas, Cherry Abao, Nora Ordonia, Julietta Calicdan, Cecilia Oliver, Rubyann Camatura, Alfie Codera and Mia Iaremko who helped prolong and improve her quality of life. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. West, on Thursday, October 12 at 12:15 p.m. Burial at the Memorial Park Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at 4838 Circle Road, Montreal.
