Adored 'Nana' of Tamara Masliyah (Larry Shamash), Ruth Maliyah (Michael Murray), Daniel Masliyah (Nicole Chiarelli), and Jonathan Tolliver (Meeko Ledoux). Proud 'Great-Nana' of Ellie, Jasmine, Judah and Hannah. Cherished sister and sister-in-law of Milo and Bonnie Shemie, Doreen and the late Eze Bashi, Lilian Shemie, Bertine Shemie, Vicky Shemie, and Saida Shemie. Predeceased by her other siblings, Naima, Naim, Noori, Rachel, Haron, Daoud, Shlomo, Saida and Rouben. Juliette will be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews, family and all who knew her. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Juliette's loving companion and faithful caregiver, Josie. The family is most thankful for the kindness and compassion of Johana, Janine and Sweet on Juliette's unit at the Kastner Pavilion of the Jewish Eldercare Centre. We also salute the courage and professionalism of the front-line unit staff at Kastner 3.
Born in Baghdad, Iraq, Juliette escaped to Israel via Iran in 1970, and arrived in Montreal in 1971. She told wonderful stories of her life in Kerada with her eleven siblings. She made it sound like Gan Eden. Juliette lived her life with integrity, courage, generosity and a positive attitude – always putting others ahead of herself. She faced obstacles and adversity with grace and perseverance, while always maintaining concern and compassion for others. Throughout the hardships, Juliette loved and cared for her family unconditionally and remained a stable and uniting element in their lives. She was the heart of her family and they are deeply and eternally grateful for all that she has given them. Her grandchildren describe her as selfless, strong, unconditionally loving, a fantastic cook with exquisite hospitality. A strictly private graveside service and shiva. |
