Obituary | It is with profound sadness that the family of Mida Bassous announces her passing surrounded by her loving family., on Monday, November 2, 2020, in her ninety-fifth year, Devoted wife of the late Albert Bassous. Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Yolande and Joseph Dabby, Chantal Bassous and Mark Rousseau. Adored Nana of Talia Dabby and Jeff Miski, Nava Dabby and Alex Bien, Sabrina Dabby and Chris Dulude-Maher; and Atara Bassous. Proudest "Big Nana" of Aiden, Maya, Neely and Leo. Treasured daughter of the late Eliahou and the late Victoria Tawfick. Dear sister of Helina and Menashe Simhi, Haim and Rachel Ofek, Itzhak and Zmira Ofek, the late Evelyne and the late Ezra Doron, the late Rina and the late Zvi Lev, of Israel. Mida will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews in Israel and the United States, and her many new and lifelong friends.
Mida was a strong, charismatic, and independent woman who embraced life and took everything in stride. Her love of cooking and food was enjoyed by family and friends alike, and many wonderful memories revolved around her Friday night meals. She had a formidable zest for life, and it served her well in making a new life in Canada, where she made many good friends, despite much of her family remaining abroad. Mida enjoyed travelling and especially loved to visit her family in Israel whenever she could. We will remember her always for her witty humour and generous spirit that touched all who knew her, whether for one day or for sixty years. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, PAB's and care team of C-8N at the Royal Victoria Hospital, the staff at the Vista Residence, the staff of CLSC Benny Farm, and to her caregiver and friend, Winsome Mighty, for all their compassion, support and care. Donations in Mida's memory may be made to the Spanish & Portuguese Synagogue, (514) 737-3695. |
