Bernice SMOFSKY COHEN (1918 - 2023)

Peacefully, in her sleep, on Thursday, January 5, 2023, in her one hundred and fifth year. Beloved wife of the late Samuel E. Cohen. Cherished mother of Elaine and Dr. Eric Davis, and the late Frederick (Ricky) Cohen. Adored "Nanny" to her grandchildren, Dr. Neil Davis and Lainie Berger, Cindy Davis and David Abramovitch. Proud great-grandmother of Samuel and Evan Abramovitch, Zoe and Russell Davis. Daughter of the late Nathan and the late Anna Smofsky. Devoted sister and sister-in-law of the late Lawrence and the late Harriet Small, the late Irving and the late Harriette Small, the late Aubrey and the late Frances Smofsky. Predeceased by her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Nat and Leah Cohen, Sarah Cohen, Lyon and Gerry Cordell, Lillian Cohen, Freda Cohen, Sybil and Mark Weiner. Much loved aunt, great-aunt and great-great-aunt to many. A truly special woman who was loved by everyone whose lives she touched.

Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Sunday, January 8 at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Congregation Shaar Hashomayim Cemetery, 1250 ch. de la Foret. Shiva at her daughter's home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. daily.
