With deepest sorrow the family announces the passing of Leonard Simmerman. Surrounded with love and with great dignity he succumbed after many years of illness, on January 12, 2002 in his seventy-second year. Born to parents Isadore and Rose, he was raised and educated in Montreal and was a highly respected businessman and community member. Dearly beloved and lovingly devoted husband and partner of Carol Schwartz for forty-seven years. Adored and dedicated father and father-in-law of Leslie, Lori and David Schouela, Donna and Douglas Finn. Cherished and proud Gramps of Brian and Andrew Schouela. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Myrna and Warren Sondon, and William (Buddy) and Dale Schwartz. Respected uncle of Stacey, Ilana, Wendy and Jody. Deeply mourned by many supportive friends. A man honoured for his generosity, strength and profound integrity. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to his numerous and dear friends who have been unfailingly supportive and caring. Special thanks to all the staff and caregivers at Maimonides Hospital, 2nd floor for their exceptional kindness and compassion. Funeral service from Paperman and Sons, 3888 Jean Talon West on Tuesday, January 15 at 11:30 a.m. Burial at the Shaar Hashomayim Congregation Cemetery, Mount Royal Blvd. Shiva at his residence.
