Obituary | On Wednesday, May 8, 2024. She was born in 1945 in Hartford Connecticut. Daughter of the late Albert and the late Else Spanier and the late Sybil Noonon. Adopted mother of Izzet. Devoted companion of the late Lloyd Brererton. Dear sister and sister-in-law of the late Dr. Allen Spanier and the late Dr. Esther Lamoureux. Aunt of Rob and Lauren Spanier, Michael Spanier and Catherine Cayer, and their families. Special longtime friend of Miriam Roland and many other devoted friends.
A teacher, artist, author, philanthropist, brilliant event planner, a woman of tremendous will and character, leader of High Holiday third service at Congregation Shaar Hashomayim for thirty-five years, a devoted schoolteacher in the Montreal community for twenty-eight years, a proud contributing McGill alumnus of class of 1967, a teacher’s union negotiator, a patients’ rights activist, and a devoted friend. Beverly, despite suffering from physical limitations due to spinal cord problems for the last fourteen years of her life, was helping friends and patients at Maimonides Geriatric Centre to deal with their problems by sending them gifts and cards. Beverly’s biggest gift was her ability to bring people of all walks of like together for multiple holiday celebrations for many decades. He legacy will live on for years to come. Heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Maimonides Geriatric Centre for their care and devotion and to the excellent 9th floor staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Special thanks to Beverly’s wonderful caregiver, Glendene. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Sunday May 12 at 2:00 p.m. Burial at Congregation Shaar Hashomayim Cemetery, 1250 ch. de la Forêt.
