Comments/Notes In April 1940, Arnold and Anka led an exodus worthy of Moses from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia, through Italy, to China, which saved the lives of fifteen family members. All the family members who could not or chose not to leave perished in the Holocaust. Her family survived the Holocaust in Japanese-occupied and controlled Hong Kua Ghetto in Shanghai.
