Obituary | It is with great sadness that the family of Johnny (Ephroim) Jablon announces his passing on Monday, December 25, 2023, at the age of ninety-seven. Beloved husband of the late Sally Pancer. Loving father and father-in-law of Debbie Jablon and Jack Winer. Proud grandfather of Daniel Winer. Loving brother-in-law of Claire Silberberg. Dear uncle of Jackie and Mitch Silberberg. Predeceased by his parents, Schulem Rothbaum and Dora Ormian, and by his brothers, Roman and Joseph, all of whom tragically perished in the Holocaust.
Johnny was born in 1926 in Krakow, Poland where is childhood was tragically cut short by the outbreak of World War II and the Nazi invasion of his home country. It was there that Johnny endured life in the Krakow ghetto, the murder of his entire family, life in six concentration camps, and the death marches, which, somehow, he miraculously survived. Johnny’s incredible tenacity and love of life carried him through that difficult time, and he carried that same spirit with him until the end. His incredible spirit was revered by all, and he touched the lives of everyone who knew him. The family would like to thank all the wonderful people who supported them through Johnny’s final days and passing. Heartfelt gratitude to Marnie, Janie, Amy, Dr. Michael Bouhadana, Kathy, Anne, Annalyn and Nelly for their loving support. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Thursday, December 28 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Krakower Society Section, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Duvernay. Shiva at 5900 Cavendish Blvd. (reception room), C.S.L. Donations in Johnny’s memory may be made to the Montreal Holocaust Museum, (514) 345-2605. |
