Obituary On Sunday, November 1, 2020. Dear husband of Marjorie Schwartzman for fifty-eight wonderful years. Devoted father and father-in-law of Sam and Laura, Annetta and Glen, Jessica and Paul, Harris, and Danielle. Cherished Zeida of Seraphina and Luca Crema-Black; Sivan, Sidney, Tamar and Eden Black-Rotchin; Ari, Gilad and Dean Grosman; Noam and Oliver Cytrynbaum. Predeceased by his parents, Sidney and Tilly Black. Survived by his siblings and their spouses, Dr. Martin and Phyllis Black, Brina and Bernie Black, and by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William and Marilyn Schwartzman, David and Penina Schwartzman, Charles and Susan Schwartzman, and the late Herbert Schwartzman. Lifelong friend of Abe and Karen Gerstein. A proud third generation Montreal scrap metal dealer, Harvey was a modest, soft-spoken, warm-hearted, and non-judgmental man, with a dry wit and biting sense of humour. It is rare to be so well remembered by the friends of your children, but that was Harvey in a nutshell. The door of his home was always open, and he made everyone feel comfortable. Others will remember Harvey as a champion gin player who shared laughs with the same card buddies for over fifty years, and as an athlete for his exploits on the court at the Côte-Sainy-Luc Tennis Club, and on the diamond in the CSL Executive Baseball League. His summers spent from childhood with extended family and friends at Baie Mississquoi fishing, sailing and waterskiing, were particularly special. But Harvey’s greatest pride and pleasure came from spending time with his adored grandchildren in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. His family is especially grateful to the exceptional staff of 4 North at Maimonides Geriatric Center who looked after Harvey for more than three years, and especially, to Menchie Tabaday and Sharon Johnson – his devoted and loving caregivers.
