Obituary |
Peacefully, on Sunday, March 22, 2020, in his eighty-fourth year. Beloved and cherished husband of the late Miriam Green. Devoted father and father-in-law of Jodi and Patrick, Lorne and Robyn. Very proud Zaidie of Tyler, Bella, Cameron, and Ryder. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Paul and Erica Wax, David and Gail Wax. Uncle Phil will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his nieces and nephews, and by his family and many friends. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Montreal Chest Institute for their exceptional care. Contributions in Phil’s memory may be made to the Montreal Chest Institute Foundation, (514) 394-4414.
For those who knew Phil well, or maybe only met him once, we are sure you can attest to what a special and unbelievable guy Phil truly was. He had such shtick and a ball-busting personality like no other that made people laugh uncontrollably. Combined with a unique and loveable charm, he commanded and lit up a room every single time. Phil was a grinder who constantly pushed the envelope (embarrassing us in the process, but in an amazing way). A guy who was always there for us through good times and bad and provided the most genuine and honest advice, both solicited and unsolicited.
Over the last 20 years he's battled harder than anyone could have ever imagined and defied logic and science with his ability to recover and bounce back on countless occasions. We are so proud of him and his warrior mentality and hope that his grit and determination remain instilled in our family for generations to come. Most importantly, he is finally at peace and back together with the love of his life, our late mother, Miriam. Phil adored his family like no other, and although we are beyond devastated over his loss, we are ecstatic for them to be back together (If we were to bet, they're already having a Gibby's steak and planning a trip to Florida). Thank you for everything you've ever done for us, Dad. We love you so much, Pops, you will be greatly missed, but certainly never forgotten. You are a true Legend. |
