It is with great sadness that we announce Evelyn’s passing on Friday night, July 10, 2020. Beloved wife of Philip Matlin. Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Ronna Matlin and David MacKinnon, Michael Matlin, Brian and Denyce Matlin, Julie Matlin and Daniel Koffler. Loving grandmother of Evan, Jacob, and Samantha. Treasured sister and sister-in-law of Bert and Pat Ellis, Gerald and Dora Ellis, Lenny Ellis and Jim Mactier. She leaves behind her nieces, nephews, and cousins – all of whom will remember her fondly.
Evy was a special woman – smart, funny, compassionate, and endlessly patient. She lived a full life, holding down two careers, one as a magic-shop owner and another as a document examiner, while raising four spirited children. Evy touched the lives of everyone she met, and generations of magicians will remember her as a woman who showed them their first card trick. She will be missed. Her laughter will echo on.
Tremendous gratitude to all the doctors and nurses involved in Evy’s care. A private graveside service will be held in Montreal.
