It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rona Steinman (née Rochwerg). Peacefully at the age of 70 on March 18, 2021, after a long and courageous battle. Beloved wife of William (Bill), cherished mother of Amy, Andrew and Barry, and sister-in-law of Mark and Marla Steinman and to the late Rona Bernstein. She will be deeply missed by daughters-in-law Evelyn and Jennifer and her loving grandchildren Abigail, Gabrielle, Nathaniel and Zachary, whom she absolutely adored. She will be deeply missed by her cousins Richard and Deb Weiss in Victoria and Carolyn Weiss in Ottawa.
Rona was born in Montreal to the late Malvin and Anita Rochwerg. She attended Mount Royal High School, followed by McGill University, during which time she met Bill and they enjoyed a loving marriage of over 48 years. What she loved most of all was spending time at her cottage in Vermont with family and her closest friends.
She truly inspired awe among her family, friends and doctors in the face of illness and adversity well beyond anything most could endure—never complaining and always thankful for the friends who called and visited as well as the help and assistance provided by her medical staff. We are eternally grateful for the wonderful staff at the Jewish Elder Care and Jewish General Hospital for their exceptional care.
