Peacefully in his ninety-fifth year, on Monday, November 30, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Selma Ash for 71 years. Loving father and father-in-law of Lorna and Fred E. Greenberg and Gary Shechtman. Cherished 'Papa Yank' of Harris and Alaina Greenberg, Zach and Michelle Greenberg; Noah Shechtman, and Alexi Shechtman. Proud great-grandfather of Tennyson, Celine, Gordon, and John. Predeceased by his parents, Annie and Nathan Shechtman. Dear brother and best friend of Gerald Shechtman; and brother-in-law of Faygie and the late Harry Milgram, Seymour and Betsey Bercovitch, the late Roz Bercovitch, the late Ben and the late Pearl Ash, the late Sheila Myers, and the late Eleanor Spector.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of 5 South at Maimonides Geriatric Centre for their support these past eight years and the Jewish General Hospital K10 Unit for their care and compassion. Heartfelt gratitude to Yolanda for her exceptional devotion, tender loving care and bringing sunshine to Jacob even on a cloudy day.
Private graveside service will take place. Family wishes to observe shiva in the strictest of privacy.
