Although seemingly unstoppable in spite of many physical challenges, Joy passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, shortly after celebrating her "eighty-eighth-and-a-half birthday". Beloved wife of the late A. Mortimer Davis and the late Walter Moos. Survived by her devoted and loving son and daughter, Howard and Suzanne Davis. Cherished "Nana" of Madison and Allie Bradfield-Davis. Dearest daughter of the late Harry and the late Irene Kaplan and sister of the late David Kaplan. Joy will be deeply missed by her many loving cousins (Berzans, Laings and Kaplans), nieces, Sharon, Mona and Heidi, great-niece, Nicole, great-nephews, Josh and Aden, friends (shout out to Vivian, Dzian, Frederic, and Tatyana), Joon - her loving dog - and by all of those whose lives she touched (including just about everyone she interacted with locally as well as a coterie of world-wide friendships which she nurtured over social media). Possessed of boundless spirit, Joy was more than aptly named as she was joyful, inquisitive, passionate, artistic, quick-witted, funny, loving, caring, and smart. She had liberal and progressive values and was politically and socially conscious. Joy was an influential gallerist specializing in folk, visionary and contemporary art (Galerie Moos, Montréal; Joy Moos Gallery, Miami and online); an interior designer for major Montreal corporations and private residences; a recognized photographer, jewelry designer (see Etsy) and collagist. The family would like to thank her longtime physician, Dr. Jeffery Danson; Darleen, Tanya and the other caregivers from the CLSC René-Cassin, the staff of the IUGM, as well as the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Jewish General Hospital for a lifetime of care. A private graveside service will take place. Contributions in Joy's memory may be made to the Ostomy Canada Society, 1-888-969-9698. |
