Obituary It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Henry Eigenmacht at 100 years of age, after a short illness, on Friday, May 1, 2020. He was pre deceased by his adored wife of 56 years, Klara Mitzki Eigenmacht. Henry was the loving father of Susan and Joe Goldstein, Jack Eigenmacht and Ellen Crackower, the proud Grandpa of Jeff Goldstein (Krista), Bram Goldstein (Kaitlyn), and Kevin Goldstein and Alexandra Steinberg, and Leo and Samuel Eigenmacht. Henry was a holocaust survivor who lost his dearest parents, Charlotte (Rosemarin) and Leon Eigenmacht, and young brother, Arnold, to the Shoah. But he picked up the pieces of his shattered life, met his beautiful red-headed wife, post war, and together they built a life together, first in Budapest, then Israel, and finally they made their home in Montreal, Canada, working hard to provide for their two children and give them the life they did not get to have. Family was everything to Henry and his wife. He was a gentleman and a gentle man, polite, loved and respected by everyone who knew him, fiercely independent and proud right till the end. He lived a quiet life, enjoying every day to the fullest, never complaining, was happy and proud with what he achieved. Shiva strictly private Many thanks to the wonderful staff at the JGH, first in the emergency ward, then on the 7th floor, who looked after our dad. A donation in his name may be made to the Jewish General Hospital Foundation 514 340 8251 or to the charity of your choice
