Much loved husband and best friend of Frances Kaufman Doft. Son of the late Max and the late Madeleine Doft. Father and father-in-law of Ellen Doft and Alex Katz, Peter and Jane Doft, Frank and Libby Doft, Amie Doft and Veronica Matos. Stepfather of Ellen Segall Hayden, Rhoda and Howard Kruger, Sharon Segall and Steve Cohen. Beloved Poppi/grandfather of the late Rebecca Doft, David and Emily Doft, Lauren Doft, Daniel Doft, Sean Matos, Josh Kruger and Adrienne Frank, Sheri and Avi Satov, David and Sarah Kruger, Rachel and David Barth, Jeremy Hayden and Holly Pearson, Jordan Cohen. Elliot adored his 13 great grandchildren. Brother of the late Frank J. Doft. Brother in-law to Brenda and the late Morris Kaufman and Heather and the late Mark Halickman. Elliot was born in Brooklyn, NY. He was a WWII veteran and served in the American Army/airforce on Saipan. Former Vice-President of Princeton Knitting and member of the NYSE, he overcame a profound hearing loss and enjoyed a full life. He was a gentle, caring person who was a great photographer, who loved playing his cello, sculpting, collecting and repairing old clocks and watches, music and theatre. He loved to read, eat fine food and, above all spend time with his large family. He will be missed by all who knew him. Many thanks to Joan for her compassionate care and kindness. We also sincerely thank the staff on the 3rd floor, Mt Sinai hospital, for the excellent care and warm support they gave us, especially Tara and Lydia. A private graveside service to take place. Shiva strictly private. Contributions in Elliot’s memory may be made to Mt Sinai Hospital Auxiliary, (514) 369-2222, 1337 |
