Peacefully, on May 4 2021, Rica Henriette Martin (née Chocron), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away at Montreal's Sacré Cœur hospital. Predeceased by her husband Paul Martin and twin Jacques "Coco" Chocron, she leaves in mourning a daughter, Celia (and the late Marc Spivock), and a son, Jean (Carole Lecompte); She was a proud and loving 'Nana' to seven grandchildren: Robert, Michaël, Jeffrey, Erika, Alexandre, Didier, William; and seven great-grandchildren: Robin, Nima, Jacob, Samara, Matti, Mika and Iris. She will also be missed by her loving sister-in-law, a niece and two nephews, their families, as well as countless cousins and close friends. Henriette always wished you "Mejorado Cien" ('May you live to a healthy one hundred'), and, at 98, she came pretty close with an extraordinary life surrounded by love, family, and adventures. From unexpectedly running her own business in her twenties (following the untimely passing of her first husband, Leon Gozal), to moving her family from Morocco to Canada without ever having seen snow, to buying a Winnebago upon retirement in order to fearlessly explore this continent, she spent every day, right up until the end, with enviable joie-de-vivre, impeccable taste and never a hair out of place. We will miss and love her forever. A private graveside service to take place on Thursday, May 6. In lieu of flowers, donations in Henriette’s memory can be made to the Fondation MMS (Mères du Monde en Santé - (438) 872-4662 | https://www.fondationmms.org) a cause that is close to the family’s heart. |
