It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Molly Gandell on Saturday, May 8, peacefully at her home in Montreal at age 97. Cherished wife for 58 years of the late Sam Gandell . Beloved mother and mother-in-law of David and Doris, Allen and Ettie, Rookie and Gerry, Terry and Andrew. Doting grandmother of Stephen, Marcie and Laurent, Jeffrey and Laura, Robert and Juliette, Brian and Veronica, Danya and Dave. Adoring great-grandmother of Olivier, Remy, Alex, Rory, Sophie, Kayla, Zev, Zenaida, Byron, Keshet, Ari, Nate. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Gertie and the late Sydney Lifshitz , the late Faigie and Abie Lightman. Sister-in-law of Roni and the late Sender Gandell , the late Libby and Jack Steinberg, and the late Simon and Bessie Kurtzman. While we are extremely saddened by Molly's passing, we feel profound gratitude to have been lightened by her inimitable spirit for our whole lives. Molly was adored by all who knew her, and never failed to bring a smile and a laugh to all those who were in her presence. A passionate and prolific baker and cook, she delighted in sharing her cakes, biscotti, and challah with family, friends, and neighbours. And above all else she was kind, accepting and respectful of everyone she met. She wished for peace and understanding amongst family, community, and in the world and practiced her wishes daily with her generosity of friendship, her giving nature and literally giving people the shirt off her back - if they said they liked it. She will be missed enormously by a great many people. A private graveside service to take place.
