Obituary SMILOVITCH, Dee Dee (nee Mendlovitz) Peacefully, on Thursday, August 2, 2012, in her seventy-fifth year. Best friend and inspiration to her loving husband Ernie Smilovitch for almost fifty-three years. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Dr. Mark Smilovitch and Sharon Brodie, and Kenneth Smilovitch (Lisa Vinebaum). Proud Grandma of Michael, Daniel and Jonathan. Dear sister-in-law of Sema Smilovitch, Belle Klompus (Leo) and Hersh Smilovitch (Arlene). Daughter of the late Marcus Mendlovitz and the late Jenta Leah Mendlovitz, and sister of the late Aron Mendlovitz, all of whom perished in the Holocaust. Dee Dee was a hidden child in Belgium during the Holocaust. She had a wonderful nursing career and was a nurse educator at John Abbott College. Dee Dee was incredibly caring and touched many people in her life with her amazing strength, warmth and wisdom. The family would like to thank Dr. Christine Legler and the staff of the Montreal General Hospital, and to express their gratitude to her caregivers at home, Hyacinthe and Christiane. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Sunday, August 5, at 10:00 a.m. Burial at the Reconstructionist Dorshei Emet Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield. Shiva at her home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. daily.
