Obituary MOGELON (SKY), Alex Suddenly on July 17, 2000, Alex Mogelon (sky), beloved husband of the late Lila. Adored father of Larry and Maureen Mogelonsky, Toronto; Marcia and Barry Strauss, Ithaca, NY and Ronna Mogelon, Dunvegan, Ontario. Cherished brother of Morris Mogelonsky and Minnie Trompeter. Special grandfather to Samantha and Adam Mogelonsky and Sylvie and Michael Strauss. Born in Winnipeg, Alex was raised in Fort William, Ontario and moved to Montreal as a young man. In the last two decades he made his home in Dunvegan, Ontario. Former national director of the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University, Alex was a talented and creative writer, designer, and film-maker. With his wife Lila, he was the creative spirit of Studio Snowdon and the many projects produced there. An avid supporter of many Jewish and Zionist causes, he worked closely with the JNF of Canada and other charitable organizations. He was also the author of more than a dozen books on art technique, as well as numerous short stories, screenplays and books on Canadian and Jewish life. His knowledge of Canadian realism, Native and Folk art was well recognized. His generosity, wit, warmth, and good sense won him close friends. He will be deeply missed. Funeral services at Paperman & Sons, Thursday, July 20, 2000 at noon, interment at Beth Zion Congregation Cemetery in Beaconsfield. Shiva will be held in Dunvegan, Ontario through Friday, and in Toronto at 10 Browside Avenue on Sunday. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
