Obituary GINETTE ANTEBI (nee SHALOM) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ginette Antebi on Thursday, May 24, 2007. She died of cancer at the age of seventy-six. Ginette will be remembered as an intelligent, elegant and cultured woman who approached her illness, as she did many other challenges, with characteristic courage, grace and stoicism. Ginette was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1930. She attended the Lycee Francais and later L'Ecole de Droit. Shortly after emigrating to Canada in 1957, Ginette had two more children, completing a family of four. She also worked for some time with her husband David at Acier Pacifique, a company which he founded in the early 1960's. Ginette was predeceased by her loving husband David Antebi and her parents, Selim and Claire Shalom. She is survived by her sister Diane Shalom and by her children Maggy (Keith Wilson), Elsa (Eric Lerman), Joseph (Galit Suissa), Roger (Sari Wieskopf) and eight grandchildren, Gabrielle, Dalia, Eva, Lara, Jonathan, Leor, Ariel and Elena. A large extended family is saddened by her passing including sister-in-law Frida Douek and her children Maurice, Joseph and Margaret, cousin Nadia Seraf of Toronto and members of the Antebi family of Connecticut, Arizona and Hong Kong and the Cleinge and Green families of Ottawa and Montreal. Many thanks to Naomi Cogan, Francine Venne, Dr. Bouhadana at the Jewish General Hospital and to Carole Becluse from NOVA. Particular thanks to the wonderful Dr. Golda and to the compassionate and dedicated staff at Mount Sinai Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Thanks also to the excellent private caregivers, Grace Batayola, Bella Bautista, Anna Lynn and Vina, who attended Ginette in the final month of her life.
