FLEMING, Abe. Peacefully, on Monday, September 15, 2008. Beloved husband of Helen Tafler for sixty-six years. Devoted and loving father and father-in-law of Frances and Morton Ross of Nepean, Ontario, the late Daniel Fleming, and Stephanie White (Loerick). Cherished grandpa of Keith and Anne Fleming, Jonathan and Jessie-Sierra Ross, Jesse Fleming and Kathleen Buset, Elizabeth and Marc Jacobs. Great-grandfather of Madeleine Fleming. Predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, Harry and Ettye, Jean and Shirley Fleming and Helen and Arnold Balinsky. Adored brother-in-law of Mary Shapiro Kantor (the late Sam), Sarah Tafler (the late Abe), the late Louis Tafler (the late Frances), the late Bea Socaransky (the late Abe), and the late Moe Tafler (Dorothy Sailor). Abe was everybody's "favorite uncle" and will be deeply missed by all of his nieces, nephews, their families and his friends. Special thanks to the staff at the Waldorf Residence and his private caregivers for helping Abe, "The General", to be at "home" with family by his side during his final days. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W. on Wednesday, September 17 at 1 p.m. Burial at the Shaare Zion Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield. Shiva at 7400 Cote St, Luc Rd. from Wednesday to Friday, continuing at Fran and Mort Ross home in Ottawa on Sunday, after 2 p.m. and Monday all day.
