BERISH, Esther Hittner
1918 -- 2013 Peacefully, with dignity, at home, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday November 30, 2013. At the youthful age of ninety-five, our jewel, beloved, devoted wife, best friend, and soul mate of the late Teddy Berish for over seventy-one years. Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Rhoda and the late Brian Cherry, Faygie and Earl Dubrovsky, Bonnie Ostrov, Paul Ostrov, and David Berish. Adoring Bubby of Debbie and Stewart Kahan, Lorne and Vered Cherry; Sheri and David Ditkofsky, Darren and Elinor Dubrovsky, Gary Dubrovsky; Sabrina Ostrov and Logan Levy; Brandon Berish, Derek Berish and Bianca Di Pierro. Fond former mother-in-law of Marla Ciubotaru. Proud great-grandmother of Joshua, Shawn and Brittany, and Jaclyn Kahan; Amanda and Dana Cherry; Matthew Ben David, and Kayla Ditkofsky; Joseph, Gabriella, and Jayden Dubrovsky; and Sierra Dubrovsky. Great-great-grandmother of Jaxon Blake Kahan. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Belle and the late Saul Hittner, the late Honnie and the late Berl Dalfen, and sister-in-law of Zella and the late Isadore Berish, the late Sadie and the late Ben Shaposnick. Daughter of the late Goldie and the late Isaac Hittner, and daughter-in-law of the late Sarah and the late Louis Berish. A candid woman of valour and truth, she will be remembered by her centenarian Aunt Sarah Frankel, nieces, nephews, cousins, grand- and great-grand-nieces and nephews, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. The family is grateful to Dr. David Amdursky, and their cousin Tina Berish for their exceptional care and devotion. Heartfelt appreciation to her caregivers, Elsa, Vangie, and Isabelle, for their gentleness and compassion. Special thanks to the nursing staff of CLSC Rene-Cassin, Mount Sinai Hospital, and NOVA. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Tuesday, December 3 at 12 noon. Burial at the Shaare Zedek Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield. Shiva at her home, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. daily.
