This is to announce the passing of Stanley Backman on Thursday, April 21, 2016. He was the dear husband of Marilyn Takefman for 35 years. Stanley was the only child of the late Philip Backman and the late Annie Smilovitch (Smiley). He was the respected and respectful son-in-law of the late Jean Schwartz and the late Herschel Takefman. Stanley was predeceased by his two sons, Dr. Allen Mark Backman (Leslie Bousquet) of Saskatoon and Neil Cyril Backman (Alyssa Maron) of Virginia. Stanley will be missed by his caring daughter-in-law Leslie Bousquet and his treasured grandsons Devin Abram Backman and Jordan Henry Backman, all of Saskatoon. Stanley was also Zaida to Aubrey and Eric Backman.
Stanley was the esteemed owner, President and Founder of Cyclebabac. Stanley was proud of his loyal co-workers Jean-Pierre Ravary, Louise Patenaude and the entire Babac staff. Stanley's strong work ethic and business acumen made his bicycle parts and accessories company a continuing success. Stanley was the supportive brother-in-law of Charles Takefman and Marlene Tooberman, the late Steven Takefman and Joyce Nisker. Stanley loved his nieces and nephews Bruce Takefman and Kimberly Calafatis, Pamela Takefman, Melanie Takefman and Aharon Greener, Jason Takefman, and his great-nephews Amitai and Yadin. Stanley will be missed by his many cousins (especially the Steinmans) and friends. Stanley had a special place in his heart for his community of good friends in Jay Peak and Montgomery, Vermont. Special thanks to Agnes for her compassionate care and loyalty over many years. Stanley had a private graveside service on Friday, April 22 led by Rabbi Ron Aigen of Dorshei Emet Reconstructionist Synagogue. Due to the advent of Passover, there will be no Shiva.
