Darlene Vais (nee Cooperman) July 8, 1949 - August 24, 2016: It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Darlene Marilyn Vais (nee Cooperman). She died in Montreal August 24, 2016, at the age of sixty-seven. Those who knew her were blessed with the light and strength of her love. She was a brilliant, generous, kind-hearted and wonderful woman. She loved music and theatre. She believed in reading and knowledge and challenging ideas. She was a passionate and unconventional teacher for over 40 years, and changed the lives of hundreds upon hundreds of children throughout her career. She was the teacher people remember their whole lives, the one who helped shape them and inspire them. She and her husband Fabien lived and loved together for 36 years before his death in 2014. Their life together was full of warmth and support, family and friends, and so much laughter. Darlene is survived by her son Sacha (Leah), sister Rhoda, brothers Peter (Karen) and Jerry (Julie), and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. The funeral service and shiva were held privately. Condolences can be sent to her son Sacha (PO Box 9224, Halifax, NS, B3K 5M8).
