CANTOR HYMAN GISSER (Chaim Yisrael) Esteemed Cantor of Congregation Beth-El for over fifty years Peacefully, after a courageous battle, on Sunday, October 31, 2010, (Cheshvan 23, 5771), surrounded by his loving family. Beloved and devoted husband of Zipora Shapira. Adored and adoring father and father-in-law of Ronit and Dr. Harold Wiesenfeld, Sharon and Joseph Hendel, Dr. Jonathan and Elana Gisser. Treasured and proud Zaidy of Rachel, Maia, Jacob, and Shira; Erica, and Aaron Jeffrey; Ben-Zion, Akiva, Lila, and Talia. Loving brother of the late Cantor Solomon Gisser, the late Sam Gisser, and the late Cantor Meyer Gisser, and predeceased by his parents, Moshe Ben-Zion and Sara Golda, and siblings, Yitzhak, Raizel, Chava, Mordechai, David, and Shraga Feivel, who all perished in the Holocaust. Dearest brother-in-law of Batsheva and Dr. Joseph Shalev, Aviezer and Gail Shapira. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews and their families; by his many dear friends, congregants, colleagues, and by all who had the good fortune to know him. Special thanks to the Cardiology Department at the Jewish General Hospital. Funeral service from Congregation Beth-El, 1000 Lucerne Road, on Tuesday, November 2 at 11:00 a.m. Burial at the Beth El Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield.
