Obituary ALTMANN, Gabor On Thursday, May 23, 2019, in his ninety-fourth year. Beloved husband of Miriam. Loving father and father-in-law of Esther Altmann and Richard Cantor, Jeffrey Altmann and Adele Vineberg, Howard Altmann, Valerie Altmann and Daniel Perla. Cherished Zayde of Arielle, Julia, Marcus, Emmanuel, Emma, Gabriella, Benjamin, Rebecca, Yoni, and Gabriel. Brother of the late Magda Stern who perished in Auschwitz. Dear brother-in-law of Esther and the late Jack Hirsch, Jenny and Irving Feldgaier, Rabbi Sender and Chavi Shizgal, Rabbi Tina Grimberg and the late Moshe Shizgal and predeceased by Rosalie and Chush Davidson, Rebecca and Dick Miller. Gabor was an adored uncle and cousin to many. Throughout his life, Gabor was a man of enormous strength and resilience. Born in Nagykallo, Hungary, he was deported to Auschwitz at eighteen and was the sole survivor of his family. He immigrated to Canada in 1948, established a business, and married Miriam. Our deepest gratitude to doctors Ruby Friedman, Rubin Becker, Alexander Thiel, Roger Ghoche and the extraordinary staff at Mount Sinai Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon St. W, on Friday, May 24 at 2:30 p.m. Burial at the Beth Yitzhok Congregation Section, de la Savane. Shiva at his home.
