Obituary LEWKOWICZ, Emma. Suddenly on Sunday, December 5, 2004. Beloved wife of the late Majer. Cherished and devoted mother of Hermine Ashton and Peter Tannenbaum, and her chosen son Jerry Hofmeister. It was Emma and Majer who together founded the famous St. Viateur Bagel Shop, and gave its special flavor to the city of Montreal. A sweet and trusting soul who gave herself unconditionally to those she loved, and was a source of joy to all who knew her. Especially dear to her were Marco and Carole Sblano and their two sons Johnny and Vince. A heartfelt thanks is given to Dr. Alfred Illescas, her close friend and physician, whose special attention and thoughtfulness to her is greatly appreciated. Funeral service to be held at Paperman and Sons, 3888 Jean Talon W. on Tuesday, December 7 at 12:15 p.m. Burial at the Avahati Sholom Cemetery, De La Savane. Shiva at her residence. Family and friends are welcome daily from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. until Thursday evening.
